Hoops

Fact

If you had to guess, what would you think the first interscholastic sport at RVA would have been? Soccer? Rugby? Nope. In 1960 RVA formed their first traveling basketball team. There was one problem. No other schools in the British colony played basketball! Fortunately they were eventually able to compete against men’s teams from the American Consulate in Nairobi and the British troops remaining from the Mau Mau emergency. RVA now plays against several Kenyan teams as well as other international schools in Nairobi.

Family
  • Lilli was seen by a cardiologist in Nairobi yesterday and is wearing a 24 hr. monitor. Results of the EKG and Echo have been normal.
  • The opposition in the presidential elections from last August and October has declared himself the “people’s president”. The current government has largely ignored it – but continue to pray for peace.
  • The eighth grade class has adopted the Alagwa as their Unreached People Group to pray for and support. Pray for the translation of Luke, especially those helping with the project to have their hearts opened to their need for the Savior who calls to them from his Word. The parents of one of our eighth graders lives and works among this people group. You can find out more about the Alagwa here.
  • We would appreciate prayer for our oldest daughter, Hannah, who is preparing for a wedding, but more importantly a life-long marriage.
  • We are also praying that God would lead Tiana in her decision for college next Fall.
